Below is some info on Skye's personnality & how she came to live with us !
Skye was a very specific order to her breeder from my daughter Kacey. Kacey is one of those kids that knows exactly what she wants so I figured we wouldn't be getting another dog for at least 5 years :0) The day Skye's litter was born the first 7 pups born were all males, Raymonde the breeder had been told to expect 6 maybe 7 pups by the vet who did the ultrasound. Well guess what after the 7th boy was born Raymonde thought 'Now I can relax' yeah right! About half an hour later Ietje, Skye's Mom started to push again and lo'n behold out comes the squirming, squawking, black headed, white'n black bodied pup who upon closer inspection is a 'GIRL'. Now Kacey ordered a black'n white girl with a black head, that had alot of 'ATTITUDE' !!! As you can guess we got exactly what we ordered and as soon as we brought this bossy little girl home we knew it! Every time I wrote Raymonde at 5 am, that's the hour that Princess Skye wanted breakfast! I continually complained that why was I up when this was my daughter's dog and why on earth couldn't this puppy wait for the alarm to go off like normal dogs, and why wasn't this puppy afraid of anything, like big hairy keeshonds whom she insisted on kissing even if they growled at her. Or be afraid of a big hairy Beardie that wondered what in hell we were thinking bringing home another dog and a girl that! Skye thought she's allowed special privileges like sharing Webster's supper once she finished hers!!! Raymonde's only answer to my continual complaints was 'You got exactly what you ordered' so now you know that wishes sometimes come true!
Skye is a wonderful girl to live with even if she can be a 'Real Bitch' at times ! The boys definetly know who the boss is in the house but she's a fair boss so they love her...well most of the time :0) She loves people, sheep, rabbits, cats you name it she loves it and mothers it but we are pretty sure she'll never live up to her herding dog origins, since she'd rather find the lambs in the herd and wash them than herd the sheep to where we want them! She also hates water unlike most Schapendoes , Princess that she is she hates having her face washed and I always end up as wet as she is, but she's a joy to groom and loves a manicure ! My non-doggie husband says that she is the smartest dog we've ever owned so that in itself is a high compliment!
